Construction Update: We’ve Officially Broken Ground!
Y’all, I’m so behind on this blog post! Life has been a whirlwind the last several weeks, but it’s official! We have broken ground! No one is surprised, at this point, obviously.
Our official break ground date was September 21, 2022, and you better believe I took the day off to go sit in my lawn chair and watch them dig a trench. :) It felt like the longest journey to get to that point, and I didn’t want the reality of it all to just pass me by. So, I went and soaked it all in. If you’re just tuning in, we hired Nolan Construction, LLC as our General Contractor, and I am so thankful we did. Glenn and his crew are not only great at what they do, they are the most fun!
Right out of the gate, they were focused on digging a trench for the under ground electric. It had to be 4 feet deep (a code requirement) and was about 1,000 feet long. It took them about a week to get it dug out and the vaults for the transformers in place. While Glenn and crew were digging the trench, gathering conduit materials, and lining the trench with gravel, Jase was working with Spectrum to have the communication in conduit (CIC) delivered to the property.
With all the conduit and communication lines in the ground and the electrical vaults installed, we had a Sevier County Electrical Engineer inspect the trench and materials. Once he gave us the green light, we were able to close the trench up. It was a team effort to get it all coordinated and completed quickly so they could close the trench and get started on the house seats and foundations. What a relief, though, to finally be moving dirt around and starting to see some activity at the property.
